The risk factors for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs acute kidney injury include chronic kidney disease, volume depletion from aggressive diuresis, vomiting or diarrhea, severe hypercalcemia, and concomitant use of other nephrotoxic medications. Most patients with an acute kidney injury due to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs will have an elevated serum creatinine but may not have any clinical symptoms.
