Toby is a 9 year-old student in the 3rd grade at Tampa Elementary School, a school he has attended since Kindergarten. He has recently been referred to the school psychologist (you) by his homeroom teacher, who has reported that Toby’s behaviors have begun to impact his academic performance. Specifically, Toby’s teacher reported that he often engages in interfering behaviors that are inconsistent with behavioral expectations in the classroom and are beginning to impact the academic environment. Specifically, she reports that Toby is frequently out of his seat, attempting to get the attention of his peers, and using inappropriate language. He also sometimes leaves the classroom without permission, roaming the halls of the school building until the behavior specialist is called to escort him back to his classroom. These behaviors are preventing him from completing his in-class assignments. He has also been failing to complete his homework or get his planner signed by a caregiver. His teacher would like you to follow up on his academic and behavioral issues.
