It had been an ugly process with Angie filing charges on him for battery. When the judge declared their marriage over, Miles turned abruptly and glared at his former wife, then stormed out of the courtroom. Angie stretched out on the bed, thinking that she would watch a movie on Netflix to help take her mind off of the stressful day. But first, she decided to go down the hall to the vending machine for a soda and some chips. Closing the hotel room door behind her, she realized she didn’t have the room key, so she slipped off one of her shoes, wedging it in the door just keeping it slightly open. Moments later, she returned with her snacks, and reclaimed her spot on the bed to begin the movie. She almost thought she smelled her ex-husband’s cologne. Too tired to watch the movie, she got up to get an extra blanket from the closet before settling in to go to sleep.
