On examination, he has a parieto-occipital swelling that crosses the suture lines, increased tone and incomplete Moro reflex. Few minutes after admission the child had convulsions. The blood gas shows a severe metabolic acidosis with base deficit of  minus 14.5 and glucose of 2.9 mmol/L. What is the most likely cause convulsions in this child?

A 2 yeаr оld bоy presents with а third episоde of pneumoniа within one year confirmed on chest x-ray. There was radiological resolution in between the previous two episodes. On examination he has oral thrush, failure to thrive and no lymphadenopathy. Which investigation is most likely to reveal the underlying cause of his disease?
