Let's lооk аt аnоther of Plаto's works--"The Ring of Gyges.". Gyges, a shepherd finds a magical ring which allows him to become invisible and chooses to use the ring to steal, seduce, abuse and kill. Because he is invisible there are no “consequences” for his actions. The question that Plato asks is, “Why shouldn’t he do as he pleases?” “Why should he care about morality?” Which approach to ethics would answer this question by saying that his actions are a violation of the fundamental rights of other persons? Thus, he cannot do as he pleases.
