A cоllege student wаs pledging fоr а frаternity at Faber Cоllege.  As part of his initiation, the college student was required to steal a stop sign from a street intersection. One night at around 10:30pm, the college student went to an intersection where there were stop signs only for northbound and southbound traffic; he then removed the stop sign for the northbound traffic.  Around 12:30am, a man--who was high on marijuana--was driving northbound at a reasonable speed toward the intersection and, failing to stop, crashed into a van that had the right of way. A passenger in the van was killed as a result of the crash.  If the student and the man are prosecuted for the passenger’s death, who should be found guilty?

Mоlly wаs аt hоme оne Fridаy evening when she got a call from her mom informing Molly that she had driven past the Last Chance Motel and saw Molly’s partner of two years, Erik, enter a motel room with Molly’s best friend, Claire.  She told Molly, “So then I parked in the motel parking lot and quietly approached the room that Claire and Erik had entered.  The curtains were closed, but there was a slight gap between them, so I was able to peek in and confirm that they were definitely having sexual intercourse, Molly.” Molly was very upset and inconsolable for the rest of the night.  The next day, Molly called Erik and invited him over for dinner.  When Erik arrived, he texted Molly to let her know that he was outside her house.  She texted back, “Just come in, the door is unlocked.  I’m in the bedroom and have a surprise for you ;).”  Erik came in the house and then walked over to Molly’s bedroom.  Molly, however, was not in the bedroom; she was in the guest bedroom directly across from her bedroom.  Right when Erik entered Molly’s bedroom, Molly snuck up behind Erik and stabbed him in the back (literally) with a chef knife.  The knife went through his back and penetrated his stomach.  Erik fell to the floor and Molly yelled, “You cheating a$$hole!! I can’t believe you slept with my best friend. I hope you die! Get the f*ck out of my house!!”  Erik got up and was bleeding badly and in a lot of pain, but he was afraid Molly might stab him again so he made his way to the front door as fast as he could.  He got to the sidewalk outside the house and then fell to the ground, losing consciousness.  A neighbor walking his dog saw Erik and immediately called 911.  An ambulance came and took Erik (who at this point was in critical condition) to the hospital, where an ER surgeon quickly began operating on him.  The operation was going well, but the anesthesiologist overdosed Erik with too much anesthesia, which caused him to go into cardiac arrest and die.    After the neighbor had called 911, Molly saw the ambulance arrive and take Erik away, at which point she began to panic, realizing that the police were likely on their way.  She quickly packed a bag with some clothes and other essentials, and then drove away in her car.  Molly was driving fast and inattentively as she tried to determine where she should go, and also still in such a panic that she did not see a red light in front of her; she blew through it at 50 miles per hour, crashing right into a car driven by Bruce.  The collision totaled Bruce’s car.  Bruce, a fairly large man, exited his vehicle and approached Molly, who was in a daze from the crash.  Bruce came up to Molly’s car and approached the driver’s side window, which was open.  He began to yell at her: “What the eff is wrong with you!? You blew right through that traffic light and totaled my car!  And you need to get out of your car right now!”  Molly was still in a bit of a daze and now shaken up a bit by the man (Bruce) who was yelling at her that she didn’t notice all the smoke coming from the hood of her car, as well as a small fire that had started on it.  Molly saw Bruce try to open her car door from the outside, at which point she started backing away into the passenger seat and then reached into her glove compartment for a gun she kept there for protection.  Because the door was locked, Bruce reached into the car and went to open her door from the inside.  Molly quickly grabbed the gun with her shaking hands, pointed it at Bruce, and fired.  The bullet hit Bruce right in the chest.  Shortly thereafter, an ambulance and police cruisers arrived on the scene.  The EMTs went to aid Bruce but pronounced him dead on arrival.  The police then arrested Molly. Discuss fully what homicide crimes Molly might have committed.  (Assume Molly legally owned the gun she used and is in a jurisdiction that allows citizens to carry guns in their vehicles).
