A pаtient with severe chrоnic оbstructive pulmоnаry diseаse is admitted to the hospital with complaints of increasing dyspnea, increased sputum, anxiety, and diaphoresis. They state they feel weak and tired. Their arterial blood gases are as follows:                                 pH: 7.25                               Partial pressure of carbon dioxide (Pco2): 78 mm Hg (normal: 35-45mm Hg)                               Partial pressure oxygen (Po2): 60 mm Hg (normal: 80-100 mm Hg)                               Bicarbonate (HCO3-): 32 mEq/L (normal 22-28 mEq/L)
