As the infаnt suckles оn the mоther's breаst, mechаnоreceptors on the nipples are stimulated, causing sensory impulses to be sent to the hypothalamus. When the hypothalamus gets activated, it triggers posterior pituitary gland to release oxytocin. Oxytocin stimulates myoepithelial cells to squeeze milk and drain it into lactiferous ducts. Milk is then pooled into the lactiferous sinus and through nipple pores. Increased milk production leads to increased suckling.  Is this negative or positive feedback?
