A 42 y.о. femаle is аdmitted tо the medicаl unit at her lоcal hospital for persistent nausea and vomiting that has been a challenge for the last 3 months while she was receiving chemotherapy for breast cancer. She had a left breast mastectomy yesterday with the nausea and vomiting starting 6 hours after her outpatient surgery. She has lost 27 kg in 3 months (Ht; 5'5" Current wt: 145 lbs.) She was hospitalized 6 times in the past 3 months for the nausea and vomiting. She has a central line in place. She is NPO and anti-nausea meds are being given. Her appetite has been non-existent for 3 months also. She has had persistent problems with hypokalemia and hypomagnesemia (potassium is currently 3.4 (3.5-5 NL) and Mg is 1.3 (1.5-2.5 NL) also for the past 3 months. Her MIV is running at 120 mL/hr. A nutrition consult has been ordered. What would you recommend in this situation?
