Essаy Chаpter Tоpics (tоtаl 50 pоints) – Texas Constitution, Texas in the Federal System, and Texas Legislature (NO aid of any kind is allowed during the exam. Objective: Using content learned in the textbook and Canvas, clearly demonstrate an understanding of the influence of Texas constitutional time limits for when and how long the Texas legislature can meet in a regular session and the implications or results from partisan control of the legislative/political agenda in each chamber relating to legislation and resolutions. Outline: Take 5-7 minutes to type out an outline for how you will respond to the essay question (required). Do not attempt to answer the question without an outline. Students must show their thought process for how they plan to respond to the essay question. Essay Question 1: Considering the constitutional time constraints placed on the Texas legislature during a regular session only, discuss how the Texas House and Texas Senate achieve their partisan political goals through the flow of legislation and resolutions (paragraph 1); discuss how partisan legislation can support a similar partisan agenda at the federal (paragraph 2).
