Referencing the phоtоmicrоgrаph below (Plаte 20.6), H&E-stаined sections of a urinary bladder, answer the following questions about the urinary tract and the bladder: SM in the pictures represents smooth muscle.  U represents the Ureter coming into the bladder.  What is the significance of the smooth muscle lining the ureter?  How does this smooth muscle function? In the two lower pictures, EP represents transitional epithelium lining the surface of the bladder.  How does this layer of cells change/vary as the bladder functions? How does the bladder know, or what stimulates it to release urine to the Urethra?
