The U.S. ecоnоmy hаs аverаged a healthy 3% annual grоwth rate over the last five quarters.  The current annual rate of inflation is 2.6%.  Unemployment ticked up in November to 4.2%, but the jobs report last week was notable in that the economy added non-farm payroll employment of 227,000 new jobs. Given these statistics and a semester's worth of Macroeconomics, how do you think the Fed is feeling about the economy?  According to the Dual Mandate Bullseye, is the Fed likely to take action right now and, if so, what kind of monetary policy would it pursue?  For example, do you think the Fed is likely to continue lowering interest rates, as it did in September and November? For full credit, be as specific and detailed as possible in your answer, relying on the textbook, class discussions, and current events wherever possible.  And if you are not feeling the same about the economy as you think the Fed is, include that in your discussion as well.
