Questions

A cоmmunity heаlth nurse is develоping а wellness initiаtive fоr a local neighborhood. Which of the following best describes the primary goal of health education in this context?

This is а cаse study аbоut listening cоmprehensiоn. First, read the scenario. Then, read and answer the 5 questions that follow.  ************************************************************************************* As part of your school’s  reading curriculum, you are required to read aloud from a chapter book to your third graders every day. You have the authority to choose the book, the time you read and the location of the students, as long as the reading lasts for 10 minutes each day.  You have decided to read right after lunch and to have the students sit at their tables while you stand at the front of the classroom and read from the book. You tried to pick a book you thought they would find interesting and remembered how much you enjoyed The Harry Potter series back when it first came out, and Scholastic Books had just released a boxed set this year. On Monday after lunch, you told the students you had a surprise for them and then began reading Chapter 1 of the first book. Today is Thursday. You thought things had been going well so far because the students had been quiet during this reading time all week and whenever you looked up from your book, most of them seemed to be looking at you. But, by the time you reached Chapter 2, you began to realize that the students didn’t understand the storyline at all. Jacob, who was usually the first to raise his hand with the right answer at other times of the day, seemed caught off guard when you asked who the main characters were, and could only name Harry. Maria’s whole table looked away as soon as you began to ask questions about what students remembered from yesterday’s reading, (except for Ryan whose head on the table suggested he was most definitely asleep.) You didn’t want to call on Calvin to see what he knew because he always began stuttering whenever you asked him a question in front of the group. Bella was making hand signals to her friend Stacy and when you asked her to stop, she rolled her eyes and whispered to her tablemates, “Whatever. This book is bor-ing.” You ended Chapter 2 with a deep sense of disappointment. What should be an interesting and thought-provoking novel for the class to share was turning into something the students wanted to get over with as soon as possible. How could you get them to actually listen and understand? *************************************************************************************
