GEO'S STORY I dreаm оf becоming а brilliаnt phоtographer destined for fame. I even talked to the yearbook club about taking pictures for the yearbook, but no one ever got back to me. So, I figure I’m not popular enough to be part of that club. Honestly, no one at school seems to care about me or my work, so I keep my real feelings hidden behind my camera lens. Watching my friends, it feels like everyone else has their lives perfectly figured out while I’m “missing out on all the fun,” stuck chained to editing software (or trapped at awkward family dinners). My dad keeps talking about how great college was, and it seems like this is supposed to be the “best time of my life”… like everything after this is just downhill. So, if I can’t even get a call back from the yearbook club, why bother trying to get better? My camera roll is full of blurry shots and half-finished projects. As for my future? I tell myself I’m destined for fame, just not until I get a better camera. That’ll be someday, but just not today. Besides my “bad” camera (not really bad, just not as good as my friend Jessica’s) I worry people won’t like me because I’m “too awkward,” “too introverted,” or “too whatever.” I feel like no one, especially my parents, really understands what it’s like trying to chase dreams with a camera strapped to my neck. So, I retreat further into my shell, convinced no one could ever “get” me. But somehow, I keep snapping photos anyway. Sometimes I accidentally capture moments of genuine joy or beauty that remind me that only most of my pictures are bad, but not all of them. If only I could find someone to actually see them… someone who’d really care and recognize the talent I am pretty sure that I could have.
