Questions

An industriаl psychоlоgist is investigаting the effects оf work environment on employee аttitudes.  A group of 20 recently hired sales trainees were randomly assigned to one of 4 different "home rooms" with 5 trainees per room.  Each room was identical except for the color of the walls.  The 4 colors used were light green, light blue, gray, and red.  Therefore, in this experiment the 4 treatments were the 4 room colors.  The psychologist wants to compare the mean attitudes of the trainees assigned to the 4 rooms with different colors.  At the end of the training program, the attitude of each trainee was measured on a 60 point scale (the lower the score, the poorer the attitude).  The data were subjected to an analysis of variance.  The partially completed Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) table was as follows: Source           df       SS              MS              F     Total                       1,829.75 Treatments             1,678.15 Error                          151.60                                      Calculate the F value.  Based on a significance level of α = 0.05, the F value from Table IX in the back of our textbook is 3.24.  What should the industrial psychologist who conducted this experiment conclude?  Explain.

Sale of Building - As a result of an extensive analysis, it is decided that it would be better to sell the building and replace it with a leased property. The property is sold for $800,000 and they immediately enter into a lease. Of the $800,000 sales price, $120,000 is for the land on which the building is situated and $680,000 for the building. The lease term is for 10 years with two two-year options for renewal. A total of $50,000 is immediately spent on leasehold improvements to make the new property more suitable for the business. Sale of Vehicles - A similar decision is made with the Class 10 vehicles as they are all sold during the current year and replaced with leased vehicles. The sale proceeds totaled $8,000 with no vehicle being sold for more than its capital cost.  Purchase of Patent - a patent with a 10 year life was purchased on November 1 for $40,000. Required: Calculate the maximum CCA that can be claimed for the 2025 taxation year for each class.
