(And it's not just me--my colleagues across the college report the same.) Now, I had already completely changed this course since 2022 as a result of AI. You're not graded on grammar, and I emphasize authenticity over perfection in every piece of writing. I don't want anyone to feel pressured to write "better" than they naturally do at the sentence level; my concern is that you do the work and learn the deeper skills of thinking and self reflection. I have continuously emphasized this policy, yet folks continue to cheat (and then lie about it when they get caught). As a result, I am implementing several changes next semester:Everyone will have to write every single assignment, discussion, journal, etc. in Google Docs and include the link with their submissions so that I can watch replays if necessary.There will be more composition/drafting of papers in Honorlock so that there is some sort of proctoring during the drafting process (which is what would happen if we were in a physical classroom).
