She describes a dull ache in the front and lateral hip, without radiation down the leg. Morning stiffness lasts about 20–30 minutes. Ice provides mild relief. PMH: Mild osteoarthritis, controlled hypertension. Social history: Retired; enjoys gardening and walking her dog. Functional limitations: Difficulty climbing stairs, standing from chairs, and walking moderate distances.   Which muscles’ performance are most important to test? Why?
