At 2:30 pm оn а Wednesdаy аfternооn, Patty went to Della’s card and gift shop intending to buy a get well card for a sick friend. The store had a tile floor and it had been raining outside. Several prior customers had entered the store and water had accumulated on the tile floor inside the front door of the store from their shoes and umbrellas. Della had not taken any steps regarding the water on the floor whether by cleaning up the water, or placing floor mats, warning signs or cones. As Patty entered Della’s store, Patty slipped and fell on the water on the tile floor. As a result, Patty sustained a broken leg. Della called the paramedics and Patty was transported to a local hospital. Once at the hospital, Patty’s leg was placed in a cast and she was held overnight for observation. At 2:30 am on Thursday morning, a nurse entered Patty’s room to check on her. The nurse bumped an equipment stand next to Patty’s bed. The stand fell over on to Patty striking her in the head. As a result, Patty sustained a concussion.
