Assessing Perfоrmаnce оf Different Mаnufаcturing Equipment:  CNC prоduction will result in parts that are just slightly different in dimension based on the characteristics of the machine.  Furthermore, the machines themselves may cause the cutting bits to wear differently and thus, for some machines, will need to be replaced more often.  This can lead to down-time and productivity loss for a company.  Within this context, suppose that you are given machines from four different manufacturers.  For each of these, you apply the same set of CNC instructions for tasks and record the time until the bit fails.  This is continued with different sets of instructions until the dataset is created.    Please assess and statistically compare the results from these different machines so that the manufacturing department can make a recommendation on the machine to purchase. Provide a complete and formal analysis of this question.

Imаgine the fоllоwing scenаriо: A reseаrcher conducts a study titled “The Effect of Background Music on Engineering Students’ Problem-Solving Ability.” Students are allowed to self-select into one of two lecture formats: a music section or a no‑music section. The music group ends up with 25 students, while the no‑music group has 280 students. In the music section, low-volume instrumental music is played during every lecture. In the no-music section, lectures occur in silence. Students in the music section complete weekly collaborative worksheets, while the no‑music section completes individual graded homework assignments. The study runs for three weeks, after which all students take an individual problem‑solving test, consisting of questions written by each instructor for their own section. The researcher uses the percentage of correct answers on this final test as the sole measure of “problem‑solving ability.” Identify at least four major flaws in the experimental design described above. For each flaw, explain why it undermines the validity of the study and suggest how the design could be improved. clearly state any assumptions that you make for your improved design.
