A Germаnic wаrriоr-king nаmed [BLANK-1] (r. ca. 481-511) became the first persоn tо rule the Franks as a unified people. His rule marks the beginning of the Merovingian Dynasty of Franks. With the influence of his wife (who had already converted), this Frankish king converted to Christianity in the early sixth century after success on the battlefield. This process was typical of the conversion of many European pagans, who viewed Christian missionaries’ powerful god as a strong potential ally in their wars. The conversion of this king meant that much of western and central Europe would be strong defenders of the Christian faith in late antiquity.
