Students will hаve 75 minutes tо cоmplete this Timed Themаtic Essаy. Students may use their preliminary assignment: Detailed Thematic Outline with Wоrks Cited. The preliminary assignment must be printed (a handwritten version is allowed); however, students MUST clearly show the webcam the document being used. The preliminary assignment must follow the detailed instructions provided by the instructor. Points will be deducted for the use of unauthorized materials (including preliminary assignments that do not follow instructions); students could also earn a zero for the use of unauthorized materials. Students must use Honorlock; no additional resources should be accessed whether print or digital. Please remember the works cited page does not have to be included on this assignment; however, you should have already submitted an accurate works cited with the preliminary assignment. Please remember proper in-text citations should be included in the timed essay though. You should incorporate a MINIMUM of THREE sources within your essay, including the literary work discussed. Essay Prompt: Choose one of the literary works we have covered in the four thematic units (family, growing up, romantic love, and nature). Make an argument, claiming the literary work would be a good fit for one of the other themes covered in the course. You cannot argue it should belong in the original theme unit. Forexample, “Girl” is a part of the family unit in this class. However, you could argue that “Girl” belongs in the growing up unit instead. You will provide three specificexamples from the text of how the chosen work fits into the theme you are discussing in your essay. Please never refer to the class directly (In this class, we covered “Girl” in the family unit.). Instead, you should just directly state your claims (The short story “Girl” clearly portrays the process of growing up.). Also, never say “in this essay” or “I am going to discuss.” You should have a line(s) from the literary work incorporated in every body paragraph. Also, remember you must have AT LEAST two additional outside sources incorporated into your essay. I would suggest having an additional outside source incorporated into each body paragraph as well. Since you only technically have to have two outside sources (other than the literary work), this means you could use a source more than once. Make sure you have reviewed all of the relevant, resources, videos, etc. before completing this assignment. Remember your response should be FIVE paragraphs; each paragraph should range from 5-10 sentences. The introduction and conclusion paragraphs will most likely be on the shorter side while the body paragraphs should be longer.
