Literаcy in the Byzаntine Empire

Cоnsider the fоllоwing study, reported in the Jаnuаry 2003 issue of Discover -  Scientists subjected а group of male mice to a short, powerful burst of radiation and did nothing to another group of male mice. Mice from both groups were then mated with unexposed females. The mice produced from these pairings (the “children”) were mated with yet another group of unexposed mice. The descendants (the “grandchildren”) of exposed mice were at least three times more likely to have mutations than the descendants (the “grandchildren”) of the unexposed mice.  Is this an observational study or a designed experiment? Explain your answer.
