Belоw аre the preliminаry results оf the investigаtiоn of a reported transfusion reaction. The transfusion reaction was stopped because the patient spiked a fever after infusion of approximately 1/2 of the packed cell unit. The post-transfusion sample was collected within 30 minutes of the time the transfusion was stopped. A review of the records revealed that the patient was A positive and the donor was O negative. The pre-transfusion DAT = negative, no hemolysis was noted in the pre-transfusion sample The post-transfusion DAT = negative, no hemolysis was noted in the post-transfusion sample These results suggest that the patient:
