Pаrt II оf Exаm: Civil Liberties & Civil Rights A theme оf оur text in Section II аnd in video lectures is that rights and liberties are in tension and that, more generally, there are powerful tensions between values (freedom, order & equality) and with preferences of the majority (a democratic principle). In this essay, begin first by defining civil liberties, civil rights and then the discuss the key "tensions” that come into play as raised in video lectures. Then, describe how our majority rule system at the national and state level can create tensions with both liberties and rights sought by individuals or groups.  In your answer, be sure to illustrate using examples from our text or videos of areas of liberties and rights that come into conflict. Put the phrase "The public does not know about these tensions ." at the end of the first paragraph. Length: 300-400 words in length (about 1.25 to 1.5 pages, double spaced). Do not forget to cite our texts and  lectures.
