Instructiоns: Write а 5 pаrаgraph essay оn the tоpic below.  Use the Basic Essay Structure and Argument Essay strategies.  The essay should be 750-1000 words with each paragraph above 10 sentences.  Your thesis statement should state a clear and direct answer to the question.  Each body paragraph should discuss ONE reason you hold your opinion. Topic:  Should Schools Start Later in the Morning? Many middle and high schools begin very early in the morning. Some people believe schools should start later. Others believe the current start times should stay the same. People who support later start times say that teenagers often do not get enough sleep. They argue that more sleep can improve mood, focus, and grades. They believe students would feel healthier and more alert during the school day. People who oppose later start times say that changing the schedule can cause problems. A later start may mean a later end time. This can affect after-school jobs, sports, childcare, and family routines. Some people believe the change would create more stress instead of less.     Reminder of Essay Structure: THESIS PARAGRAPH JOBS:  Raise the subject naturally (2-3 sentences) Set the scene and give background (2-3 sentences) State your clear and direct response to the prompt (One sentence) Preview the examples you will use (3+ sentences) Get the reader ready for your first example (one sentence) BODY PARAGRAPH JOBS (x3): 1)   Create a topic sentence that tells exactly what the paragraph will be about, connects to the thesis, and uses transitional words or phrases.
