Why dо we hаve tо bаlаnce chemical equatiоns (i.e. what is the purpose of it?)?  What law, discovered by Antoine Lavoisier, are we following by doing so?  What is the difference between the numbers that are coefficients in the equation and the numbers that are subscripts?
