Tоdаy is the first writing dаy fоr the Cоmpаrative Analysis Essay. Introduction Paragraph: The introduction paragraph should have the following segments: Introduce theme List the three texts List the four categories Provide your thesis – what you will argue and why it matters Analysis Paragraphs: The essay must have 4 analysis paragraphs. Each analysis paragraph should follow the following structure: Topic statement – the specific aspect of the theme to be examined in the paragraph Comparison of how this topic appears in two of the texts. A good comparison uses similarity and difference. Ground the comparison in a direct quotation or incredibly specific description of detail from each text. Cite the direct quotation or description per MLA. Include a restatement for each. Discuss the comparison. Tie the discussion to the topic for the paragraph. Point of view: The essay should use third-person point of view. It may also use first-person point of view. It cannot use second person point of view.
