Internet availability, speed, and cost also limit access for many students. Students who struggle to learn independently and manage their time and those who have difficulty communicating and mastering technology may need face-to-face assistance and support. However, enrollment in online high school courses continues to increase despite educator concerns about the quality and the results of those programs. Supporters of online high school courses say that full-time online schools increase the availability of courses for some students. Students living in rural or low-income communities may be limited to schools with low budgets and few options. Online courses would allow them to access advanced or nontraditional courses they could not get in their local schools.
