This data would be invaluable for tracking and forecasting the spread of the disease and would allow health officials to provide crucial guidance in making timely health policy decisions. In light of this problem, let’s assume that you want to quantify the consequences of population mobility from a highly infected City X on the spread of COVID-19 in other non-infected areas. You collect data for 30 cities that contain the total population outflow from City X and the cumulative (total) number of cases confirmed in these cities over a period of 10 days. Using this data, you estimate the simple linear regression of the total number of confirmed cases (y) on the outflow of population from City X (x). The total number of confirmed cases (variable y) is defined as the number of people who tested positive during the 10 day period of the study and is measured in people.
