A reseаrcher wаnts tо knоw the impаct оf alcohol on attention. She has forty college students come into her lab. Half of the students are assigned to the alcohol condition and half are assigned to a placebo control condition where they drink a beverage, but it does not contain alcohol. All participants perform two kinds of very basic attention tasks both before and after consuming several beverages. One of the tasks requires the student to have very focused attention while the other task requires the student to have more distributed attention. The researcher collects the focused and distributed attention results for each of the 40 students before and after consuming the beverages.
