Closely analyze the examples you cite with attention to the relationship between gender, agency, and freedom. 3) Using In the Time of the Butterflies, consider how the novel explores the relationship between writing, trauma, and memory. How do characters remember, narrate, and/or cope with violence and loss? What role does storytelling play in preserving individual and collective histories? Quotes should not exceed 10% of the total paper. Signal phrases help the reader distinguish between your words/ideas and those of the text you’re analyzing; without them or without parenthetical citations at the end of quoted passages, you run the risk of plagiarism.
