Questions

Williаm decided tо spend Sаturdаy fishing with his twо sоns.  William is 68 years old, retired and has Medicare Parts A and B.  William’s 38 year old son, Tim, is unemployed and currently does not have health insurance coverage.  His 28 year old son, Kenneth, works for a heating and air conditioning company and has Aetna PPO health coverage.  Kenneth pays $100 out of each paycheck to Aetna for healthcare coverage for himself and his wife.  While they are fishing, the family is involved in a boating collision (accident).  Kenneth had a broken arm.  He saw an orthopedic doctor in the emergency department, who after X-rays, made a cast for Kenneth.  The doctor sent a bill to Aetna for his services and Aetna sent a check for $600 to the doctor in return. Tim initially had a small bump on his head and some discomfort in his low back.  He decided not to go to the emergency department because he has no health insurance coverage, but one week later his back pain has become severe.  He is considering his options for financing his medical treatment. William underwent a bilateral below-knee amputation (BKA) and after 4 days in the hospital he was transferred to a skilled nursing facility.  He lives alone in a two story house and would have been unable to go straight home from the hospital. Which Medicare part (part A or part B) covered William’s stay in the skilled nursing facility?
