Teаm Diаlоgue 1 – First Drаft SPAN 002/052 – Summer 2026Day 3 (Wednesday, July 8) – 4th Periоd (apprоx. 50 minutes) Objectives During Period 4, students work in pairs to write the first draft of a conversational dialogue that integrates grammar and vocabulary from Days 1–3. One partner plays a roommate who has just gotten home from a long day of classes; the other plays a roommate who has been home for a while. By the end of Period 4, students will have produced a written first draft demonstrating their ability to use the grammar from Days 1–3 to sustain a natural exchange while covering all required content areas. Activity: Team Dialogue 1 – First Draft (full period — approx. 50 minutes) Scenario: Partner A has just gotten home after a long day of classes and is getting ready to go out. Partner B has been home for a while and is in the middle of doing something around the house when Partner A walks in. They end up talking before Partner A has to leave. Partners decide their own roles. The dialogue should feel like a real conversation — questions and answers go back and forth between both partners throughout. Required Content Greetings and Farewells Open with an appropriate greeting; each partner asks the other how they are doing Close with an appropriate farewell Who You Are (both partners contribute) Each partner uses ser with at least two adjectives to describe their personality: one positive and one negative (e.g., Soy organizado pero no soy paciente) Each partner uses estar to describe a current feeling or state At Home Right Now Each partner describes what they are currently doing using the present progressive Each partner describes at least one room in the home and at least two objects or pieces of furniture in it Daily Routine Each partner describes their daily routine using at least two reflexive verbs with times (e.g., Me levanto a las siete, me ducho a las siete y cuarto) Each partner uses at least one direct object pronoun to avoid repetition (e.g., Lo hago por la mañana) Plans and Obligations Each partner expresses at least one upcoming plan using ir a + infinitive with a time expression Each partner expresses at least one obligation using tener que + infinitive Knowing People and Things Each partner uses saber or conocer at least once in a natural context (e.g., knowing how to do something, knowing a person or place) Interrogative Words A combined total of at least four different interrogative words used across the dialogue; each partner must ask at least two questions (¿cómo?, ¿dónde?, ¿qué?, ¿cuál?, ¿a qué hora?, ¿con quién?, ¿cuándo?, ¿por qué?, etc.) Note: All numbers and times must be written out in words (e.g., veinte, las nueve de la mañana). Dialogue Format & Submission At the end of class, both members submit their written script draft via Canvas. The script must follow this format: Both partners’ names appear at the top Each line is labeled with the speaker’s name The exchange is back-and-forth between both partners (not a monologue) This draft will be revised for the final version of Team Dialogue 1.
