This sectiоn оf text prоvides аll pаrts of the problem in one plаce before breaking the problem down into different problems for submissions. Each problem is presented in this way to allow students to see all required calculations for a cycle in one place. Problem 3 – 30 pts A vapor compression cycle has a mass flow rate of 0.05 kg/s. R-22 enters the compressor (η = 80%) at 2.5 bar, 15 °C and then is compressed to 9.0 bar. The R-22 exits the condenser as a saturated liquid. To approximate entropy: first two decimal places should match (a) 18 pts – Determine the cooling capacity of the cycle (tons) (b) 5 pts – Determine the coefficient of performance (c) 7 pts – Draw the TS diagram for the cycle, denoting where States 1, 2, 3, and 4 are located. Show ideal and real states where appropriate. Label pressure lines.
