Choose a direct quote that reveals something about the character's personality, identity, etc. Direct quotes should be no longer than a few sentences (do not use an entire paragraph). 3. Write the name of the character you are analyzing and the direct quote at the top of the page. Include an in-text citation, citing what page the direct quote is located on. Example (Walker 3). 4. Enter down and begin close reading the direct quote, analyzing how it reflects an aspect of the character's personality/identity/character. Responses should be 150-200 words and can be formatted as a paragraph or similar to the example on the page "Annotation and Close Reading" in this module.
