During a test run of a similar rocket, NASA launches a prototype vertically upward on a calm day (no wind), burning fuel and producing a roughly constant acceleration until it reaches an upward speed of 722 m/s. After the engines shut off, the rocket begins to freefall, eventually coming back down to the earth after reaching a maximum height of 123 km.
