Refer tо Figure 9 аbоve.   1. The cоrrect symbol for а power pаnel is shown in box ______   2. The correct symbol for a three-way switch is shown in box ______    Part 1 of 2

Revisiоn Instructiоns Chоose one of your two Exаm 1 responses to substаntiаlly revise into a stronger, more fully developed essay. Use your feedback and your own rereading to develop, deepen, reorganize, and refine your ideas—not simply to correct errors or make the essay longer. The revision will be evaluated on the quality of the new submission: its argument, evidence and analysis, organization, effectiveness as a complete essay, and thoughtful attention to relevant feedback. You are being evaluated on the quality of the new essay—not only on how much you changed. Respond thoughtfully to relevant feedback while developing your argument, evidence, analysis, and organization. Also develop your introduction and conclusion beyond what was possible in the initial timed response. They need not be as elaborate as in an out-of-class essay. An excellent conclusion does more than restate the thesis: it helps readers understand the “so what?”—why the argument matters. Your essay should have an introduction, thesis, about 2-4 body paragraphs, and a conclusion.    An "A" Level Revision... Presents a clear, complex and/or original thesis developed through interesting, insightful analysis. Uses specific, well-chosen evidence and explains its significance. Ideas are clearly organized, with focused paragraphs, logical sequencing, and effective transitions. The introduction effectively establishes the essay and its argument; the conclusion helps readers understand its significance or “so what?” Thoughtfully addresses relevant feedback. Demonstrates the depth and development expected of excellent work within the constraints of an in-class essay.   Reminder of Exam 1 Prompts I. Putting Texts in Conversation Prompt A: Many of the writers in Unit I present America as simultaneously an ideal to believe in and a nation to question or challenge. Choose at least two Unit I texts and make an argument about how their authors negotiate this tension. What does placing these texts in conversation help us understand about the idea of America? Prompt B: What is one of the most important tensions or disagreements about America that emerges among the writers of Unit I? Put at least two Unit I texts into conversation and make an argument about what is at stake in that tension. II. Close Reading Choose ONE of the two poetry selections (Whitman section 15 or Lim) and develop an interpretation of it through close reading. As in Part I, your goal is to make an argument, not simply to list observations about the poem. In your response: Make a clear central claim about the poem’s meaning or significance. Strong responses will offer an interpretation that demonstrates originality and/or complexity. This will likely be in a paragraph of its own at the top of your response. Support that interpretation through careful analysis of specific words, phrases, lines, and/or patterns in the poem. Pay attention to how the poem communicates, not only to what it says. You do not need to discuss all—or even most—of these features. Focus on the literary choices that are most important to the particular poem you are analyzing. Identifying a technique is only the beginning of analysis: explain what the poet’s choices accomplish and how they contribute to the poem’s meaning.
