In this study, Dr. Harry and Margaret Harlow raised baby monkeys by themselves, separating them from their mother immediately after birth. Their study changed seeing an opportunity they didn't expect after noticing the baby monkeys became extremely attached to the blankets in their pens in the absence of a mother. So, the Harlow’s created two artificial mothers – one with a bare wire cylinder with a wooden head attached to a feeding bottle of milk called "wire mother", the other had no feeding bottle but was wrapped in cloth called "cloth mother".
