A luxury hаndbаg with nо functiоnаl changes sells because it signals grоup identity for its owner. This is primarily a(n):

Technоlоgy Strаtegy & Innоvаtion Mаnagement Fall 2025 Michael Leiblein Instructions The objective of this exam is to provide you with an opportunity to apply and reflect on the theoretical concepts and frameworks introduced in our course. The exam consists of three primary questions. Each of these questions is worth 33 points. A fourth “honor” question asks you to check a box indicating that you have not used AI in this exam. To help you structure your response, each of the three main questions includes a series of sub-questions. The first question references a “mini-case” associated with the “strategy for startups” article we read in this class. I recommend reading the question, the mini-case, and then responding to the question. A second question references a recent Wall Street Journal article and encourages you to apply class frameworks to evaluate the approaches that Anthropic and OpenAI are taking in the AI race. The third question is more open-ended and asks you to reflect on the courses delivering value module. Please answer each question thoroughly, drawing on the ideas and models discussed in class and in the readings. You may use outlines or a series of bullet points to communicate the substance of your analysis. There is no length requirement, but experience suggests that most responses will total three to five pages in length. Figures, tables, and exhibits can be included in an appendix to these analyses. The exam is open-book and open-note. The grading rubric aligns with the exam's objective. Excellent exam answers demonstrate both your understanding of the theories and frameworks introduced in class and your ability to generate insights and recommendations by applying these theories and frameworks. Good exam answers demonstrate either your understanding of the theories and frameworks introduced in class or your ability to generate insights and recommendations about the articles, but not both. Poor exam answers demonstrate neither your understanding of the theories and frameworks introduced in class nor your ability to generate insights and recommendations about the articles. Good luck. PS: At times, the Carmen quiz function locks students out after the exam time period. I've increased the time limit for this quiz to 135 minutes to mitigate this problem.  If you are locked out, email me any remaining work as soon as possible. I will use the time stamp on your email to calculate the end of the quiz.
