Step 1: Review the Essаy Tоpic Yоur tаsk is tо write а reflective essay that analyzes your growth as a writer and thinker throughout the semester. You will focus on your own work, such as participating in class discussions, reading the materials in the modules, completing the prewriting tests, taking the quizzes, and completing the digital tools assignments. You will also reflect on how readings, such as “Backpacks vs. Briefcases” and “Narrative Identity,” have influenced your understanding of writing and rhetoric. Important: Do not reflect on the class itself or on your instructor’s teaching. This reflection should focus only on your own work. Also, feel free to write in first person, or use words such as I, me, and my, considering that you are writing about your own work.  Step 2: Start Writing or Create an Outline in the Area Below If you’re not sure how to begin, you may use the following optional questions to guide your writing or outline. You do not need to answer them all. Just use what helps you develop your ideas. Write at least 400 words. This is not a full essay, but your response should include specific ideas, examples, and references to your work.  Guiding Questions Use the questions below to help you think and write about how your speaker connects with the audience and achieves his or her purpose: Which activities or assignments (such as discussions, readings, quizzes, or digital tools projects) stand out the most to you, and how did they help you connect more deeply with the course materials? How did specific readings, such as “Backpacks vs. Briefcases” and “Narrative Identity,” influence the way you think or write? How has your writing or thinking improved or changed as you practiced writing this semester? How have your own habits—such as pacing your work, revising your writing, or participating in discussions—strengthened or challenged your learning process? Overall, how do the skills and strategies you developed this semester work together to show your growth as a writer, thinker, and communicator? (Optional) Step 3: Review the Rubric Before Submitting Your Test 25 – Clearly Developed and InsightfulYou shared thoughtful, specific ideas and fully responded to the prompt. Your response meets the word goal of about 400 words and shows that you carefully considered the topic. 20 – Thoughtful and On TrackYou responded to most parts of the prompt and shared clear, relevant ideas. Your response is close to or meets the word goal of 400 words. Some parts could be a little more detailed or organized, but this shows a solid understanding and effort. 15 – A Good Start with Room to GrowYour response may be short, and some ideas may be general or need more development. Still, you’re on the right path and showing effort. Keep going! 10 – Needs More DevelopmentYour response is under the word count or misses important parts of the prompt. It may be too general. Try to be more specific and take time to develop your thoughts. If you need help, let me know. 5 and Below – Incomplete or Off TrackThe response is too brief or off-topic to meet the goals of the assignment. Try to be more specific and take time to develop your thoughts. Let’s build on this next time. If you need help, let me know. Step 4: When You Are Ready to Write Start writing your response or outline in the area below.
