When he grew up, Rorschach enrolled in medical school and became interested in psychology. Influenced by discussions about psychoanalysis, which emphasized the role of childhood memories on adult behavior, Rorschach began to think about the inkblot game he had played as a child. More precisely, he began to wonder why two people might interpret inkblots in wildly different ways. When Rorschach graduated from medical school in 1912, he began to pursue his inkblot research in earnest. In 1921 he published his landmark* work, Psychodiagnostik, in which he explained how inkblots could be used to explore the unconscious. Although less popular than it once was, the Rorschach test is still used all over the world–and to think, it began with a simple childhood game. What is the topic?
