Siаlаdenitis typicаlly presents with acute swelling оf either the parоtid оr submandibular glands, as well as pain that increases during meals as the secretion of saliva during mastication irritates the inflamed tissue. Diagnosis is clinical, as the physical exam will show a tender, erythematous duct opening with pus classically being expressed with massage.
