Jailhouse Rock is a boutique hotel with a theme based on Elvis Presley’s song and movie from the 1950s. With the rush to open, JR decided to outsource food service to Slammer & Klink, an institutional food service. S&K were expensive, but JR didn’t have the time to put together a good RFQ. Imagine their surprise when six months after opening, the CEO of S&K, Stan Slammer left the firm he had founded. He was known as a visionary and philanthropist and gave ex-cons a chance by hiring them. Costs had risen considerably in the year since Slammer had quit.
