In a scatter plot, you want to plot average health-care spending against average life expectancy for several countries. The plot will show a positive correlation across all countries except the United States, which spends the most but achieves only a middle to low life expectancy. Which headline is clearest?

The technique of “the double y-axis” refers to a chart that includes two vertical scales for different datasets in the visual field. Briefly explain why it might be effective in some cases and deceptive in others? Provide at least one example for each scenario.

Scott Berinato discusses six presentation tips: Show the chart and stop talking. Don’t read the picture. For unusual visual forms, guide the audience. Use reference charts. When you have something important to say, turn off your chart. Show something simple and leave behind something more detailed. He also introduces six engagement tips, which are create tension, use time, zoom in or out, bait and switch, deconstruct and reconstruct; and tell stories. Use at least two presentation tips and two engagement tips to talk about how you will present the following chart to the class.
