KIN 6026 – Sport and Exercise Nutrition for Peak Performance In class, we compared two, contrasting, models describing the development of obesity – the Carbohydrate-Insulin Model (CIM) and the Energy-Balance Model (EBM). Both models have merit, but please state a case for either CIM or the EBM as the primary explanation for the rise of obesity rates in the U.S.  Very briefly provide the primary point of each the CIM and EBM. State how either the CIM or the EBM explains the physiological changes that lead to excessive weight gain. Consider and discuss any of the following: Hormonal responses to dietary intake – macronutrient composition, portions, timing. Types of carbohydrate (starches, sugars, fiber) and their impact on blood glucose and insulin. Energy storage and subsequent relationship to appetite and energy expenditure. Roles of nutrient and caloric density in total energy intake. Describe 2-3 concomitant dietary interventions (recommendations) for the selected model – e.g., low-carb/high fat, low-GI, low-fat, low-calorie, etc. Discuss how these interventions improve health or performance  (particularly compared to the other recommendations). Support your answer with evidence from the literature.

What is the “choice” argument as it relates to homosexuality that I discuss in my Lecture this week? What are the weaknesses/problems with it that I discuss?*** Remember that copying/pasting from any course materials (other than your own words in the Prep Guide), the internet, or using generative AI like ChatGPT to help “write” or “proofread” or “improve” your answer violates my Academic Integrity policy. One of the Ethical Dilemmas you were responsible for this week involves a conflict over an irrigation project, and its potential impact on the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker, a species once believed to be extinct but now the subject of a spirited debate over its existence after several possible sightings–including the area in question here.Assume for this question that the planned irrigation project would benefit rice farmers in a 240,000-acre area, as well as create some new wetlands that would benefit native but not endangered species like wetlands plants, some water-using mammals, and waterfowl. However, the project would also wipe out any Ivory-Billed Woodpeckers in the area.Compare and contrast how a person holding each of the following ethical views would likely decide whether the irrigation project should go forward or not:an anthropocentrista zoocentrist like Peter Singera species egalitarian biocentrista species nonegalitarian biocentristan ecologist holist*** Remember that copying/pasting from our eBook/course materials, the internet, or using AI like ChatGPT to help “write” or “proofread” or “improve” your answer violates my Academic Integrity policy. Identify and discuss the two most important things you’ve learned in this course. For each, explain it in detail and why you consider it to be important.(And yes, I realize this is the same as one of the Online Discussion questions…but remember: different audiences (me for this Learning Eval question; the rest of the class for the discussion question…your answer/discussion might not necessarily be the same :))*** Remember that copying/pasting from any course materials (other than your own words in the Prep Guide), the internet, or using generative AI like ChatGPT to help “write” or “proofread” or “improve” your answer violates my Academic Integrity policy. Gabriella and Gaetane are twins. They take all the same classes in high school and participate in the same extracurricular activities. Every year, as soon as classes end and summer vacation begins, Gabriella comes down with a cold or sinus infection, but Gaetane always stays healthy. How does cognitive appraisal help to explain the difference in the girls’ susceptibility to illness?
