The lytic cycle (pathway) is one of the two cycles of viral reproduction. Generally, it can be described as a five-stage cycle.  Choose the correct statements and bring the stages into the correct order from beginning to last! Not all statements are needed, you have to read carefully!   1) Maturation: The replicated material assembles into the fully formed virus particle 2) Lysis: The newly formed viruses are released from the infected cell by lysis (which is itself destroyed in the process) to seek out new host cells to infect 3) Penetration: The virus infiltrates the host cell and thereby injects its DNA into the host cell  4) Gene Integration: The virus’ genetic material is inserted into the host’s own genetic material 5) Biosynthesis: The virus DNA/RNA is replicate inside the cell, synthesizing new virus DNA/RNA. Viral genes are transcribed and viral proteins are produced. 6) Attachment: The virus attaches itself to the surface of the host cell in order to inject its DNA into the cell 7) Budding: The virus particle is assembled at the host’s cell membrane. During that process, the viral proteins and genetic material is enclosed by the membrane and are then released from the cell without destroying it in the process.  The newly formed virus seeks out new host cells to infect.
