Inpatient admission: The patient, a three year old male, was admitted for evaluation of fever, cough, and persistent pulmonary interstitial infiltrate. A chest tube was placed on the right side for drainage. The child’s condition was consistent with pneumonia and aspiration of mucus. On the day after chest tube insertion, the chest xray was clear, and the chest tube was pulled. He was placed on aspiration precautions and antibiotics. He was to be followed up as an outpatient.
