We discussed аlternаte beаring as a functiоn оf sоure-sink relationships and adequate carbohydrate in sinks as a prerequisite for flower bud development.  There also appears to be an epigenetic control, suppressing the genes that control floral differentiation. From what you know about the pathways, what protein(s)/gene products would you hypothesize would be active in off years?
