Now that the test is open and I have completed the Honorlock authentication process I certify that I have completed the following instructions listed below. I understand these steps are taken to ensure the integrity of my testing session and the course. By not completing the following list of instructions I am putting my testing session into question and this could result in a zero being recorded for this test. Take plenty of time to clearly show the camera the 1) Front and back of my formula sheets and the mirror/lens handout (if I choose to use it) 2) The 2-4 sheets of blank paper (no notebooks!) 3) My calculator. 4) My phone which is then placed out of easy reach (ie. behind me, on the floor or on a shelf). 5) I will used my camera to SLOWLY scan the room to show my work area (including the area in front of my workspace) 6) FINALLY, I will show my desktop with all the materials shown in steps 1-3 (phone is not on or near desktop). Be sure that the notebook paper and reference sheets are displayed on the desktop so that I am assured that there are no additional materials available to you during your testing session.

23. a) A diverging lens is placed in a lens holder on an optical bench. What is the the image distance if the diverging lens has a focal length of 10.0 cm and the object is set at a distance of 5.0 cm on the left side of the lens on the optical bench. (4 pts) b) Draw a ray tracing diagram for the arrangement described above. Draw the three principle rays and include the near and far focal points in your drawing. Be sure to identify the object and image in your drawing. Use the information you calculated in “a” to label the diagram properly. (6 pts) c) What type of image is formed by the diverging lens and what is its orientation? (4pts.) d) Calculate the magnification and image height for an object height of 4.0 cm. (4 pts) 24. Charge 1 is 15.0 cm from point P and charge 2 is 5.0 cm from point P. a) Calculate the magnitude and direction of the total electric field at point P in the diagram above. (Indicate the direction as an angle above or below the horizontal) (14 pts) b) Calculate the electric potential at point P in the diagram above. (8 pts) 25. Draw the electric field lines for two equal negative charges. Indicate the direction of increasing potential. (4pts) 26. a) Draw the two possible arrangements that can be made with a 10.0 uF and 2.50 uF capacitors. Be sure to label each arrangement and use the correct symbols for the capacitors and values. (4 pts) b) Calculate the total capacitance for each of the arrangements drawn above? (4 pts) c) Find the energy stored in the capacitors if they are connected in series to a 6.0 V lantern battery and the energy stored for a parallel connection. (4pts)

Rushdie points out the number of characters who weep in The Wizard of Oz: Dorothy cries tears of frustration before being allowed to enter the Wizard’s palace, the guard at the palace becomes sodden with tears, the Cowardly Lion cries when Dorothy hits him on the nose, the Tin Man nearly rusts up again from crying, and Dorothy cries again when captured by the Witch (223).
