I wanted to conduct an experiment to see if listening to music will increase physical activity in hamsters! I came up with the following hypothesis, variables, and methods, and even listed the resources I used to inform my research. My results and conclusion are included below. Independent Variable: Exposure to pop music (Taylor Swift playlist vs. silence) Dependent Variable: Total wheel revolutions per day Controlled Variables: Cage size, wheel type, food/water, temperature, light cycle, breed (Syrian hamsters) Method Summary: Four hamsters (2 male, 2 female) were divided into two groups: Music group (n=2): Exposed to pop music for 3 hours daily using a Bluetooth speaker. Control group (n=2): No music exposure. Wheel rotations were measured with a basic pedometer attached to the wheels over 7 days.
